I am back! I have been out for a while, busy with my day job and then on a vacation. I'll soon be writing about some very large scale art that I just got back from visiting.  In fact, they are two of the largest art pieces in America. Here's a hint. I took this picture of the flag below in Rapid City, SD, which is only about 30 minutes away from the pieces.

Have you ever been on a journey in which everywhere you looked there was something new that you had never seen before? If you have you might find that there is also art everywhere you look. A couple weeks ago, I had the privilege of taking such a trip to Australia. This was my first trip to "The Land Down Under" and I can truly say that I could see art everywhere I looked. Maybe because it was my first time traveling to Australia or maybe it is just because the country has so much to offer. In any case there was enough to see that I will be making a series of posts about the trip my family and I took to Australia. Most of the posts will be centered on something to do with Art that we found  or experienced there but I can't say I won't get into other topics about the Journey. First Visit: Clyfford Still Museum

Since this was my first visit to the Clyfford Still Museum, I'm going to be writing about the museum itself and the amazing art you will find there. Still was an amazing artist, a pioneer and an extraordinary person. I think I could probably write pages and pages about him, but I would like to learn more about him first. So, for now I will write mostly about our first trip to the museum. I have been going to the Denver Art Museum for years but I never even realized that right next door, on the west side of the DAM is an amazing museum dedicated to one of the original abstract expressionists. I guess because we usually drive from the east side and park in the parking garage just east of the DAM, I never noticed the Clyfford Still Museum which opened in 2011. Fortunately my wife found out about it while looking up information on another museum and we finally got a chance visit this one of a kind art museum. The Art of Transportation

I might not call the act of transportation its' self an art, but some of the vehicles that were created are most definitely works of art. That's not to say that they weren't engineered and produced to accomplish the specific task of moving from one place to another.  They most definitely were, but when they were created, was there an intention of creating art? Probably not, at least in most cases. There may be a few instances in which there was original intent to create something beautiful or there was an intent to make it look nice or attractive,  but in most cases the object was to create something that could move people or things from one place to another. Once we got good at that, we then started to try and make things look pretty. This 1927 Rolls Royce was built, not only to be functional but to be beautiful as well. Over time, as these things are discontinued and no longer produced, we begin to see a beauty in them that can be considered true art. Car collecto
