The Art of Australia : Introduction

Have you ever been on a journey in which everywhere you looked there was something new that you had never seen before? If you have you might find that there is also art everywhere you look. A couple weeks ago, I had the privilege of taking such a trip to Australia. This was my first trip to "The Land Down Under" and I can truly say that I could see art everywhere I looked. Maybe because it was my first time traveling to Australia or maybe it is just because the country has so much to offer. In any case there was enough to see that I will be making a series of posts about the trip my family and I took to Australia. Most of the posts will be centered on something to do with Art that we found  or experienced there but I can't say I won't get into other topics about the Journey. I will definitely try to tie as much as I can to the art world.

Sunrise over Sydney Harbor
My first thought about Australia is that it really is a beautiful country.  The majority of my time was spent in the city of Sydney but we did venture to some of the suburbs and of course out to the beach. From our hotel we had a spectacular view of Sydney Harbor and saw sunrises like the one above almost every day.

Downtown Sydney is a lovely place to walk around and explore. It is very clean and most of the people are very friendly.  There are lots of new buildings going up or old ones being renovated so there is plenty of architecture to look at. The historic parts also provides a great deal of artistic architecture.

There are great things to see in the areas around Sydney also. There are beaches, museums, animal sanctuaries and more. Another one of the great things to see in and around Sydney are the many parks and botanical gardens. There are so many trees, plants and birds that we don't normally see here at home. Most of these attractions are free or very low cost which makes it even better.

No matter what you do or where you go in Australia you will see and experience some type of art. There is traditional art, modern art, native Aborigine art, architectural art, natural art and more. I really look forward to talking about more of these experiences in detail, so please look for more in this series "The Art of Australia".
